Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Service Technician responsible for the inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of fire alarm systems and related life safety equipment. This role ensures systems operate in compliance with applicable codes and standards while delivering customer service. This is a key position for a growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of system troubleshooting and repair.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair Fire and Life Safety systems, including conventional, addressable, voice systems, complex smoke control, and networked solutions, primarily with Siemens and Notifier technology.
- Use a variety of tools to analyze systems and detect fault conditions.
- Ensure maximum system detection and alarm coverage when effecting repairs.
- Produce repair reports in accordance with NFPA standards for customer acceptance and billing.
- Program systems using laptop computers.
- Ensure Fire Alarm circuit integrity.
- Assist in managing vehicle inventory and repair tools.
- Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.
- Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
- Install, program, and commission fire alarm systems.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- A minimum of two years of service experience in the Fire Life and Safety industry, focusing on fire alarm systems. Experience must be in service, repair, and troubleshooting, not wire pulling.
- Knowledge of current fire alarm systems, including smoke control, graphic user interfaces, and networked solutions, particularly Siemens and Notifier.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Fire Alarm circuit integrity and how to troubleshoot for circuit opens, shorts, and ground conditions.
Skills &
Certifications:
- Ability to program and repair fire alarm systems using a laptop computer.
- Knowledgeable in NFPA 72 code requirements and Article 760 of NFPA 70 (Electrical Code).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a full background check and a 10-panel drug test. Medical marijuana will disqualify.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET certifications are preferred.
