The Aircraft Mechanic III performs, leads, supervises, and inspects aircraft maintenance activities supporting P-8A operations. The selected candidate must possess comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems and be capable of diagnosing and repairing complex discrepancies using applicable technical publications, maintenance manuals, blueprints, schematics, and other technical data. This position requires extensive hands-on aircraft maintenance experience as well as the technical knowledge necessary to supervise subordinate mechanics, provide guidance during complex maintenance evolutions, and ensure work is performed in accordance with CNAFINST/COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series, NAMP requirements, applicable NAMPSOPs, technical directives, and local instructions.

• Lead and supervise aircraft mechanics in the performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of P-8A aircraft.
• Diagnose complex aircraft discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective actions using technical publications, schematics, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and applicable technical directives.
• Maintain, repair, service, inspect, and troubleshoot aircraft structures, engines, flight controls, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, fuel systems, landing gear, and associated mechanical components.
• Support aircraft power plants, environmental control systems, electrical power and lighting systems, automatic flight control systems, and related aircraft subsystems as qualified.
• Perform aircraft inspections, flight line operations, aircraft movement, preservation/de-preservation, corrosion prevention and spot treatment, and support equipment operations.
• Perform and document maintenance in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) and applicable command procedures.
• Make and certify required entries in aircraft, engine, armament, support equipment, and other applicable maintenance logs and records.
• Utilize NALCOMIS/OOMA and applicable maintenance documentation systems to accurately document maintenance actions and aircraft status.
• Support Maintenance Control activities, including aircraft status reporting, Technical Directive compliance, logs and records, and Safe for Flight requirements as assigned and qualified.
• Serve in CDI and/or CDQAR capacities for applicable maintenance areas when designated and qualified.
• Support Quality Assurance requirements and assist in maintaining compliance with applicable NAMP programs and command inspections.
• Perform or supervise maintenance using aircraft-specific tools and test equipment, including torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal equipment, and other specialized tooling.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to lower-level technicians during aircraft maintenance, modifications, inspections, and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate and prioritize maintenance workload to support aircraft availability, flight schedules, and required delivery timelines.
• Participate in FOD prevention, Tool Control, Hydraulic Contamination Control, Corrosion Prevention and Control, Support Equipment, Tire and Wheel, and other applicable NAMP programs.
• Support aircraft engine and APU turn-up operations when appropriately trained, licensed, and designated.
