Structured Cable Technician II
Our client is looking for strong structured cable technician II's for a commercial build at a medical facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the building out of network infrastructure, including running terminating, testing Cat 6. Mounting devices and installing network components. This is a short term project 1 - 2 weeks.
Structured Cable Technician II
Key Responsibilities:
- Run, terminate, and test copper cables according to industry standards.
- Dress and route cable into device locations.
- Cable pathway installation (J-hooks, uni-strut, ladder rack).
- Cable management (dressing, labeling).
- Cable Termination RJ-45/Modular Plug.
- Patching work in preconfigured MDF cabinets.
- Install a work area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks. Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to BICSI labeling standards).
- Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
- Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).
- Testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable.
- Build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
- Drill and securely mount devices.
- Safely work on ladders to install and maintain equipment at heights.
- Read and follow blueprints set for installation.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

- Modular plug crimper
- Flashlight – not the one on the phone

- Impact driver
- Various sizes of wood, metal and masonry drill bits
- Various sizes and types of driver bits
PPE:
Safety Vest, Safety Glasses, Work Gloves, Hard Hat, Work Boots (Steel toe or composite)
