Compensation: $32 p/h negotiable + Benefits
We are seeking an experienced Boatswain’s Mate (BM) with U.S. Navy (USN) experience to support deck operations, vessel handling, maintenance, and seamanship activities in a marine environment.
This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in line handling, small boat operations, rigging, and deck equipment maintenance
.
This position requires prior service in the United States Navy
, specifically:
Boatswain’s Mate (BM) (preferred)
Other deck or seamanship-focused roles with equivalent experience
Candidates with experience in navigation support, watch standing, crane/rigging operations, and deck safety are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities Deck Operations & Seamanship- Perform line handling, mooring, anchoring, and towing operations
- Operate and maintain deck equipment (winches, capstans, cranes, rigging systems)
- Support safe vessel movement and docking procedures
- Operate small boats and assist with navigation and watch standing duties
- Support crew during launch, recovery, and underway operations
- Perform routine maintenance, including:
- Painting and corrosion control
- Deck preservation and cleaning
- Equipment inspections and upkeep
- Follow all maritime safety procedures and standards
- Participate in drills and emergency response activities
- Maintain awareness of hazards and ensure safe deck operations
- Prior service in the United States Navy
- Experience as a Boatswain’s Mate (BM) or equivalent deck operations role
- Strong knowledge of seamanship, rigging, and deck operations
- Ability to work in physically demanding and outdoor environments
- Experience in:
- Commercial maritime, shipyard, or offshore operations
- Tugboats, barges, or support vessels
- Crane or rigging certifications (preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with navigation support and watch standing
- Marine, dockside, and vessel environments
- Exposure to weather, heavy equipment, and physical labor
- May require lifting, climbing, and extended periods on deck
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Team-first mentality and communication skills
- Commitment to safety and operational excellence
A former Navy Boatswain’s Mate transitioning to civilian maritime work
Experienced in deck operations, rigging, and vessel handling
