Installer
The Installer assembles, installs, moves, and disassembles commercial furniture and related fixtures at a variety of customer sites. This role ensures all products are installed to high quality standards and client specifications, supports office preparation and clean-up, and delivers excellent customer service while working closely with a team to complete projects safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and install commercial furniture, including desks, chairs, cabinets, panels, and related components in accordance with company standards and client specifications.
- Load and unload furniture on trucks with a high degree of caution, using protective blankets and padding as needed, and secure items for transport to avoid damage and optimize space.
- Install window coverings, artwork, and specialty items as part of office and commercial space setups.
- Load boxes and filing cabinets onto moving pallets to support office moves and reconfigurations.
- Perform quality checks to ensure all assembled furniture is free of defects, properly aligned, and securely installed.
- Proactively communicate with the lead installer, market leadership, and team members to ensure smooth project execution, providing status updates and promptly reporting issues.
- Prepare offices and work spaces for installation projects, including organizing materials and staging furniture and equipment.
- Ensure the workspace is clean and free from trash, packaging, and construction material at the end of each project.
- Disassemble existing office furniture, organize components, and load pieces onto pallets and trucks for transport.
- Unload items from trucks and safely transport furniture and equipment to the new location or designated areas on site.
- Use hand tools and power tools to disassemble and reassemble furniture and miscellaneous items, following safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
- Communicate with clients in a professional, respectful, and customer-focused manner throughout the installation process.
- Drive a box truck as required to support deliveries and project logistics, adhering to safe driving practices.
- Connect wires, test, and plug in equipment such as desks and related components to ensure functionality, within the scope of basic residential-level electrical tasks.
- Use dollies and other moving equipment to safely move furniture and materials within job sites.
- Support unloading and moving furniture as part of a team, ensuring safe lifting and handling practices.
- Adapt to different job sites and project requirements, including supporting other markets when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support successful completion of installation and move projects.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds on a regular and consistent basis.
- Ability to work extensively on knees under desktops and regularly perform bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Positive attitude with a customer-centric focus and strong professionalism.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and support other markets as needed.
- Experience using hand tools such as hammers, mallets, hacksaws, and tape measures.
- Experience using power tools, including drills and impact drills.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints or layout drawings.
- Understanding of working with different materials commonly used in furniture, construction, or manufacturing environments.
- Comfort with connecting and testing basic wiring and plugs at a residential level (no specialized electrical licensing required).
- Willingness and ability to drive or ride in company vehicles to various job sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in furniture assembly and installation is preferred.
- Experience in construction, carpentry, or manufacturing is heavily preferred.
