Human Services Counselor III

Race to presence of vulnerable adults in crisis. The role is demanding and requires compassionate professionals who can ensure safety, independence, and quick intervention for Florida’s vulnerable adult population.

• Arrange and provide services to eligible Adult Protective Services clients in community or state‑licensed facilities.
• Provide case management for CCDA, HCDA, Protective Intervention, and Protective Supervision programs.
• Arrange scheduled service visits and contacts to complete or update care plans.
• Interview new applicants and evaluate them for assistance programs.
• Coordinate services with appropriate agencies and resources.
• Coordinate court‑ordered activities with legal staff and attend court hearings as scheduled.
• Advocate for clients to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
• Complete and process required paperwork related to opening, closing, updating, and provision of services (ASIS, OSS, court documents, etc.).
• Maintain case records per program policies and document counselor activities.

• Associate’s degree (60 semester hours) plus two years of professional experience in education, mental health, counseling, guidance, social work, health, or rehabilitative programs; OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
• Professional experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for required education.
• Valid driver’s license and operational private vehicle with proof of registration and insurance coverage.
• Typing and time‑management skills.

• Problem identification, analysis, and resolution.
• Understanding of human behavior, mental health, and rehabilitation techniques.

• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
