Position Overview:
The HOPWA (Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS) Outreach Specialist is responsible for engaging and collaborating with individuals and communities to ensure that people with HIV/AIDS have access to housing assistance and supportive services. This part-time position requires a dedicated professional with strong communication skills and a passion for serving vulnerable populations. The specialist will work closely with local health departments, service providers, and community organizations to promote the HOPWA program and advocate for clients’ needs.

* Key Responsibilities:

- ** Outreach and Engagement:*
* - Conduct proactive outreach to individuals living with HIV/AIDS to raise awareness about HOPWA services and housing options.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to facilitate referrals and support networks.
- Organize and participate in community events, health fairs, and informational sessions to promote HOPWA resources.
- ** Client Support:*
* - Assist clients in navigating the HOPWA application process, providing guidance and support to ensure timely access to services.
- Conduct needs assessments with clients to identify housing-related challenges and connect them with appropriate resources and services.
- Maintain regular communication with clients to monitor their progress and provide ongoing support.
- ** Data Collection and Reporting:*
* - Collect and maintain accurate data on outreach activities, client interactions, and service outcomes for reporting purposes.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for program improvement based on client experiences and community needs.
- ** Education and Advocacy:*
* - Educate clients about their rights regarding housing and available resources in the community.
- Advocate for clients within the community and with service providers to ensure they receive equitable access to housing resources.

Collaboration:

* - Work collaboratively with the HOPWA Program Manager and team members to develop and implement outreach strategies and educational materials.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay informed about program updates and best practices.

* Qualifications:
**
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, community development, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience in outreach, social services, or housing assistance.
- Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS and its impact on housing needs, as well as familiarity with housing programs and resources.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse populations in a compassionate and respectful manner.
- Experience in outreach, case management, or a related field, particularly within vulnerable communities.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data management systems.
