What you will do:

This is a highly professional managerial position providing programmatic and operational oversight of the Child Protective Investigation (CPI) programs and staff.

How you will make an impact :

  • Directs day-to-day operation of multiple Child Protective Investigation (CPI) units to ensure the safety and wellbeing of abused or neglected children through timely and effective investigations and coordination of in-home intervention/services, or removal/placement/sheltering of children in danger.
  • Ensures compliance with program operational and performance measurement standards. Analyzes district/unit/individual performance and directs the development of corrective action plans relating to program, policy, and staff performance improvements as required.
  • Manages staff to meet workload requirements and efficiently conduct operations within established budgetary resources.
  • Provides technical assistance to subordinates and to district leadership in interpreting rules, policies, and standards.
  • Coordinates investigation of customer complaints regarding staff performance or department programs and policies.
  • Ensures achievement of goals, performance measures and objectives and compliance with Department and Region mandates.
  • Represents assigned Circuit and County in meetings with public or private agencies and community organizations relating to CPI issues. Coordinates with assigned County's Community Based Care partner for appropriate services or action. Coordinates with Children’s Legal Services (CLS) and represents DCF in court as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of three years of child protective investigator supervisory experience
  • Current, active Florida Child Protective Investigator Certification (CPI)
  • Valid driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of data collection
  • Knowledge and ability to practice Florida's Safety Decision Making Methodology
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to administrative functions such as accounting, personnel, purchasing or report writing.
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
