Family Support and Engagement Specialist

Healthy Families is a nationally accredited home‑visiting program that partners with new and expectant families to help them navigate stressful life situations and build healthy, happy, safe families. The program supports families through education and community connections.

As a full‑time Family Support and Engagement Specialist
, you will provide guidance, resources, and support to families, helping them overcome challenges and build resilience. You’ll assess and provide customized support to enhance the home environment and strengthen parent‑child relationships. Your contributions will play a pivotal role in achieving CHS’s mission of building bridges to success for children.

Primary Job Functions

  • Assist in identifying family strengths and needs, and develop an actionable roadmap to create a stable home environment.
  • Conduct developmental screenings and maintain client contact via phone, written communication, and home/residential visits.
  • Identify and refer families to supportive services; arrange transportation when necessary for medical appointments, counseling, and agency meetings.
  • Teach positive parenting skills and age‑appropriate discipline to strengthen parent‑child interaction and enhance family functioning and self‑sufficiency.
  • Provide modeling techniques, education, and activities as outlined in the Home Visit Service Plan.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive client clinical and case records in a timely manner, documenting activities per Healthy Families and CHS standards.
  • Meet with supervisor weekly to provide detailed updates on client screening/assessment status and other activities.

Job Qualifications

We’re seeking individuals who have:

  • A strong work ethic and reliability built over many years.
  • Exceptional communication, problem‑solving, and basic computer skills.
  • A passion for teamwork and contributing to a shared vision.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility for additional hours when required.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse young children and their families.
  • A Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle or transportation.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
