Position Summary

An assistant dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and scheduling the transportation of goods within a specific geographic area, ensuring efficient and timely pickup and delivery of freight. The role acts as a crucial link between drivers, customers, and the transportation company, managing all aspects of the dispatch process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Creating efficient loads for carriers while considering traffic patterns, price, and delivery deadlines.
  • Maintaining clear and consistent communication with carriers, customers, and relevant parties about shipment status, delays, or other issues.
  • Finding and securing suitable freight loads for carriers, negotiating rates, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
  • Ensuring adherence to all relevant transportation regulations and company policies.
  • Addressing and resolving any issues that arise during transportation, such as delays, breakdowns, or accidents.
  • Providing excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Utilizing technology to track the location and status of shipments in real‑time.
