Position Summary
An assistant dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and scheduling the transportation of goods within a specific geographic area, ensuring efficient and timely pickup and delivery of freight. The role acts as a crucial link between drivers, customers, and the transportation company, managing all aspects of the dispatch process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Creating efficient loads for carriers while considering traffic patterns, price, and delivery deadlines.
- Maintaining clear and consistent communication with carriers, customers, and relevant parties about shipment status, delays, or other issues.
- Finding and securing suitable freight loads for carriers, negotiating rates, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
- Ensuring adherence to all relevant transportation regulations and company policies.
- Addressing and resolving any issues that arise during transportation, such as delays, breakdowns, or accidents.
- Providing excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Utilizing technology to track the location and status of shipments in real‑time.

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, accounting/billing, HRIS, timekeeping, and other applications used in the performance of job duties.
