GENERAL-PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Cargo Warehouse Ramp Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of marshaling in and pushing back the aircraft, operating ground service equipment (GSE), loading and unloading cargo on and off aircraft, transporting cargo between warehouse and aircraft, receiving, delivering, and physical handling freight and company material at the warehouse. Perform build-up and breakdown of cargo safely within required time frames and complete paperwork needed to get the job done, ensuring on-time departures of aircraft and trucks.

The Cargo Warehouse Ramp Supervisor is also responsible for managing, coordinating, and controlling all aspects of a cargo operation overseeing all operational activities including monitoring the quantity and quality of work performance; directing personnel within assigned functional area; overseeing and advising on staffing requirements; participating in the discipline, coaching, counseling, hiring and termination of subordinates; training subordinates, ensures compliance with Company rules and regulations, Company standards and contractual agreements;

ensure budgetary controls and manning requirements. This position may include responsibility for communication between individual customers and the Company. The scope of the job may vary with the size of the operation and its primary line of business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Proactively monitors the work of assigned employees to ensure that customer satisfaction, safety, security, quality, and employee relations meet or exceed standards.
  • Maintain and control all required aspects of the operation in accordance with the corporate security program and TSA legislation.
  • Ensure that the required company audit requirements are undertaken to always ensure continuity and compliance.
  • Read, understand and clarify the implementation of the site-specific security plan and ensure that all staff is issued with a relevant company  that they are required to display this identity badge.
  • Ensures they administer practices in a fair and equitable manner, where all employees, customers, vendors, and other third parties are treated with respect. The scope of the job may vary with the size of the operation and its primary line of business.
  • Responsible for cargo warehousing, including receiving, dispatching, and staging airfreight, air mail, and other cargo at air freight docks and other cargo facilities.
  • Responsible for operating motorized vehicles as related to the operation
  • Routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, equipment, and facilities with or without powered equipment; and
  • Other duties and functions related to the foregoing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, walking, climbing, reaching from ground level to overhead; possesses the ability to grip objects. Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry things such as heavy objects, luggage, and packages (up to 70 pounds) in and out of aircraft within confined aircraft cargo space or onto or from a conveyor belt. Must be able to ascend to a height of 40 feet for the purpose of de-icing aircraft;

must be able to respond to audio transmitted information or alarms; must be able to distinguish color for such things as aircraft wingtip lights and aircraft instrument panel lights; may be subject to standing for long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works both indoors and outdoors with exposure to extreme weather conditions as well as dust and pollen; subject to a variety of mechanical, electrical, chemical, toxic waste and other safety hazards associated with or working around aircraft, vehicles, equipment, fuel, etc.; subject to constant and extreme noise, strong odors, fumes and poor lighting due to working at night; possible exposure to disease due to aircraft lavatory work.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole

numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, percent, and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Work in a high noise level environment.

Work with minimal supervision.

Cognitive skills to set priorities and use independent judgment.

Ability to handle stress.

Must be able to lift at least 70 pounds.

Reports to work on a regular and timely basis.
