Assistant General Manager – Warehouse / Delivery Operations / Account Management (Werner Final Mile)

The role supports a new two‑person delivery crew and associated personnel in a fast‑paced environment, overseeing all facets of operation including transportation, delivery operations, and inventory control. The Assistant GM leads customer delivery teams and warehouse associates, ensures compliance with WFM safety procedures, and enhances the customer delivery experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to customer delivery teams and warehouse associates.
  • Meet and exceed client requirements by measuring and monitoring the complete fulfillment cycle, including transportation, receiving, quality inspections, and return inventory management.
  • Oversee internal warehouse movement, inventory control, and order fulfillment to retail, transportation, and supply chain management.
  • Support a team of warehouse operators, coordinating off‑loading, loading, and pallet handling.
  • Implement company policies and procedures and ensure adherence to WFM safety guidelines.
  • Train, coach, and develop personnel, building a high‑performance team.
  • Communicate professionally with leadership of distribution centers, showrooms, and customers.
  • Perform additional functions as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1‑2 years of experience in warehouse management, distribution, and internal inventory control (preferably in big‑box consumer goods or last‑mile distribution).
  • 1‑3 years of effective management in internal warehouse movement.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse processes, technology, and order fulfillment.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to build, mentor, train, grow, and lead a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Physical ability to lift, lower, push, and pull furniture up to and in excess of 80‑100 lbs.
  • Pre‑employment testing: drug screening, background check, and physical.
