Cashier

The Cashier is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise.

• Project a positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware. Greet customers entering the store, thank them by name when possible, and project a friendly, outgoing demeanor while working well with customers and associates.
• Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently. Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively, and communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.
• Continually build product knowledge and assist customers with store layout and product location. Assist in pricing, stocking, marking and bagging of merchandise.
• Follow all cash register transaction procedures, balance the register drawer, and adhere to any Store Support Center program or promotion requiring implementation at the cash registers. Participate in store and cashier meetings.
• Maintain the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors, neat and clean at all times. Face and dust the front end, keep impulse counters stocked and faced, rotate fresh merchandise as seasons change, and ensure fresh ads, forms and supplies are stocked. Assist with decorating the front end per the Store Support Center program. Call for cart pickups when necessary and inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Cashier experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25 lbs) and climb.
• Ability to exhibit and incorporate the company’s core values—Winning, Excellence, Love, Integrity, Gratitude, Humility, and Teamwork—into daily decisions and interactions.

$15.00 per hour.
