Job Description
Summary:
The Supervisor, Security is responsible for oversight of Security shift operations and provides front line supervision of Security staff at assigned location(s), supervising daily activities of Security Officers and Lead Officers, preventing and detecting crime, as well as protecting persons and property. This role performs duties relating to the welfare and safety of the colleagues, patients, visitors, and property of the organization.

- High School Diploma or Equivalency is required.
- Associate’s degree is preferred.
- Successful completion of the International Associate for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) healthcare security supervisor certification is required within 6 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of job placement is required.
- Valid Driver’s License, must have 5 years of driving experience, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must be approved in accordance with the MH Fleet Safety Program.
- Completion of IC 700 and 800 Incident Structure certificates required within 1 year of hire.
- Completion of advanced de-escalation training courses provided by Memorial Health within one year of hire.
- Minimum of three years’ MHS Security experience or four years practical experience working in security, law enforcement or military experience is required, or equivalent combination thereof.
- Previous experience in a hospital setting is strongly preferred.

- Supervises and directs daily activities of Security Officers and Lead Officers to ensure safe, efficient, and professional operations.
- Coordinates shift operations, including staffing assignments and real-time adjustments to meet operational needs.
- Responds to and directs handling routine, urgent, and emergency incidents, ensuring appropriate actions and escalation.
- Ensures timely, accurate, and complete documentation of incidents, reports, and operational logs.
- Monitors staff performance and adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; addresses concerns by providing day-to-day coaching and documentation of performance concerns, with formal disciplinary corrective action and evaluations owned by the Security Manager.
- Maintains appropriate staffing coverage by managing attendance, scheduling, and timekeeping within the scope of their assigned shift.
- Escalate staffing, operational, and employee relations issues to the assigned Manager, as appropriate.
- Supports investigations by gathering information, preserving evidence, and coordinating with leadership and external agencies.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of key shift-level performance metrics; escalates trends or concerns to leadership.
