Youth Development, Youth Support Worker
The JAY:
PRO Mentor will work directly with MYS staff, community organizations and systems, and youth and families to provide supervision, mentoring, and life skills development services to youth who are referred to JAY:
PRO to assist with court-ordered community service requirements. Primary goals of MYS programs include:
1) Diversion of youth from child welfare and juvenile justice systems;
2) Preserve or reunify families;
3) Develop a continuum of comprehensive community-based youth services;
4) Close service gaps by identifying and addressing service voids;
5) Coordinate education, employment, training and other programs for youth; and
6) Encourage the use of qualified volunteers and voluntary associations.
7) Assist youth and families in healing, recovery, and growth.
The JAY:
PRO Mentor must maintain client confidentiality to ensure the physical and emotional safety of youth and families. Breach of client confidentiality may result in immediate discharge from Midwest Youth Services.
There is a probationary period of six months. The JAYPRO Mentor will have an evaluation at the end of three months to review progress, and at the end of six months to again review progress. After the six-month review, a decision to retain the JAYPRO Mentor in employment will be made. Thereafter, the JAYPRO Mentor will be evaluated annually upon their employment anniversary date.
APPEARANCE:It is expected the JAYPRO Mentor will dress appropriately and professionally for each situation.
It is equally believed the JAYPRO Mentor will maintain self in a responsible manner at all times.
The JAYPRO Mentor will respect the position of coworkers and property of Midwest Youth Services.
