Overview

Do you have at least five years of QA/QC experience on large-scale mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety projects and enjoy field inspections, stakeholder coordination, and detailed documentation?

MBP is looking for a Mechanical Inspector to support inspection and quality oversight on large-scale projects across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety trades. A minimum of five years of QA or QC experience is required.

Responsibilities

What You ll Do:

Serve as a key contact collaborating with contractors, designers, and the owner to identify issues early and recommend solutions. Provide guidance on the mechanical scope and act as the subject matter resource for assigned divisions of work. Exercise judgment to verify work against contract documents, codes, and industry standards and communicate findings to project stakeholders. Represent MBP in the field while coordinating with owner stakeholders to support project objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide inspections and quality oversight to verify installed work complies with contract documents, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Serve as the subject matter resource for the assigned division(s) of work.
  • Work proactively with contractors, designers, and the owner to identify and help resolve issues to reduce rework and production delays.
  • Prepare daily reports, review RFIs and submittals, perform mock-up reviews, develop and review punch lists, maintain testing and project logs, verify payment applications and schedules, verify as-built documents, coordinate work activities with owner stakeholders, and assist other inspectors.

Who We Are Looking For

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of QA or QC experience on large-scale projects for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety trades.
Qualifications

Education/Knowledge:

  • Two-year degree in mechanical engineering, or engineering technology combined with a minimum of five years’ experience required.
  • Construction training, experience, and/or coursework in building construction, mechanical or electrical engineering, project management, or materials; or a combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating ability to perform core responsibilities.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and project management information systems (PMIS) such as Procore and eBuilder; ability to navigate electronic files for specifications and drawings.
  • Experience with BIM is a plus.

Preferred

Certifications:

  • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset to work in a proactive team environment with QA/QC team members.
  • Walk long distances on project sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Guidance/Responsibility:

  • Works independently on assigned inspections and determines appropriate approaches to verify compliance within standard practices.
  • Receives overall guidance from project leadership and coordinates with stakeholders to communicate findings and recommended actions.

Supervisory:

  • Provides support to other inspectors as assigned.
  • Reports to project or program leadership.
