Position: Park Attendant (Part-Time)

There are currently two part-time openings for this position:

  • 26 hours per week with 401k, Leave and State Retirement benefits
  • 30 hours per week with 401k, Leave, State Retirement, and medical/dental/vision/supplemental insurance benefits

Both positions can expect some evening and weekend work. Please indicate which position(s) you are interested in via the questionnaire when you apply.

Performs semiskilled work maintaining parks and play areas, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Park Operations Supervisor.

  • Maintains a safe, comfortable, and clean environment in park facilities, buildings, and grounds.
  • Ensures accessibility, safety, and security of park facilities and grounds.
  • Assists maintenance personnel with repair and maintenance of park equipment, buildings, and grounds.
  • Verifies park facility reservations.
  • Prepares ball fields for use.
  • Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Some knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in general maintenance work; some knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools and techniques of the standard building trades; some knowledge of safety precautions applicable to the duties of the class; some knowledge of the methods used in the preparation of baseball and softball fields; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time;

ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in grounds maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirement:

Valid Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:

This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting, speaking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling;

work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arms length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities;

work frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather), exposure to the risk of electrical shock, exposure to vibration and exposure to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment;

work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Salary will be determined by candidate's qualifications, budget, market, and internal equity.
