Position Overview
The Aircraft Mechanic I (Airframes OR Flight Line) performs Organizational-Level maintenance on MV-22 Osprey aircraft in direct support of VMMT-204 flight operations and pilot training. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, inspecting, repairing, servicing, and maintaining aircraft structures, systems, engines, rotor components, and associated equipment while ensuring all maintenance actions comply with Naval Aviation maintenance procedures and technical publications.
Candidates may support either Airframes or Flight Line operations based on experience and qualifications. Primary
Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform scheduled, unscheduled, phase, and special maintenance on MV-22 Osprey aircraft.
• Troubleshoot aircraft discrepancies and perform maintenance, repair, removal, replacement, adjustment, and installation of aircraft components.
• Conduct inspections utilizing Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs) and applicable maintenance documentation.
• Research and comply with Technical Directives (TDs), Maintenance Instruction Manuals (MIMs), and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and aircraft maintenance data.
• Utilize calibrated tools, special support equipment, and test equipment to complete maintenance actions.
• Operate aircraft support equipment while following all flight line safety procedures.
• Accurately document completed maintenance actions in accordance with Naval Aviation maintenance requirements.
• Work effectively with maintenance supervisors, production control, quality assurance personnel, and fellow mechanics to support aircraft availability and mission readiness. Airframes Mechanics may also:
• Repair aircraft structures and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Remove, repair, replace, and rig aircraft flight control surfaces, landing gear doors, access panels, and structural components.
• Perform corrosion prevention and treatment activities. Flight Line Mechanics may also:
• Troubleshoot and maintain engines, rotor systems, drive systems, PRGB/TAGB assemblies, fuel systems, and associated components.
• Perform daily, pre-flight, turnaround, and plane captain inspections.
• Conduct hot and cold aircraft refueling and fuel sampling operations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum five (5) years of aircraft maintenance experience.
• Minimum two (2) years of recent MV-22 Osprey maintenance experience.
• Previous designation as an MV-22 Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) in either Airframes or Flight Line.
• Experience performing Organizational-Level (O-Level) aircraft maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
• Experience using IETMs, MIMs, MRCs, and other Naval Aviation technical publications.
• Ability to safely operate aircraft support equipment and maintenance tooling.
• Strong troubleshooting, inspection, and aircraft maintenance skills.
