Horizons East Building Company Field Technician Location

Jacksonville, NC (On-Site/Field-Based)

Horizons East is a locally owned homebuilding company based in Jacksonville, North Carolina, proudly serving Onslow, Carteret, Jones, and Pender counties. Our team includes locals, military spouses, and dedicated construction professionals who share one mission: to build high-quality homes while strengthening our community.

We are expanding our field operations team and looking for a reliable, hands‑on Field Technician who takes pride in craftsmanship, organization, and supporting smooth job‑site operations. If you enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and being an essential part of a homebuilding team, this role offers variety, stability, and growth.

The Field Technician plays a critical role in supporting jobsite operations across multiple residential construction projects. This is a fast‑paced, highly physical, and detail‑oriented position for someone who can work independently, communicate clearly, and help ensure each project stays clean, organized, safe, and on schedule. You'll work closely with Superintendents, trade partners, and the construction team to complete daily tasks, complete punch items, document jobsite progress, and help maintain a professional jobsite environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform jobsite cleanup to maintain safe, professional, and organized work areas.
  • Complete minor punch items and small repairs as directed.
  • Report larger punch items or trade‑specific issues to the Superintendent.
  • Install and maintain equipment and materials on‑site, including permit boxes and temporary items.
  • Install tub and flooring protection to prevent damage during construction.
  • Transport materials, tools, and supplies to and from multiple job sites.
  • Maintain thorough Daily Logs for each job site and help monitor schedule items.
  • Assist Superintendents with unlocking/locking homes as needed
  • Receive delivered appliances, inspect for damage, and document findings.
  • Perform CO (Certificate of Occupancy) and QC (Quality Control) checklists; document and report results.
  • Identify and report issues proactively to avoid delays or defects.
  • Keep the shop clean, organized, and fully stocked.
Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot issues early.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management and ability to stay on schedule.
  • Strong organization skills for tools, materials, and field documentation.
  • Basic computer/technology skills for logs, checklists, and Hyphen (preferred).
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Safe, responsible operation of vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to work well with a team and maintain a professional attitude.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • 2 or more years of construction experience (required).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience with Hyphen/Build Pro (preferred).
  • Ability to lift, carry, and perform physical work in varying weather conditions.
Pay & Benefits
  • Full‑Time (40 hours per week), W-2
  • Pay: $15.00 to $18.00 per hour
  • Up to 5 hours of overtime allowed weekly
