What You’ll Do
As a Diesel Mechanic
, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing commercial trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment to help keep customers safely on the road and minimize equipment downtime.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, brakes, electrical systems, drive trains, steering, suspension, HVAC, air, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct DOT inspections and identify safety or compliance issues.
- Repair and replace tires, wheels, hubs, bearings, brakes, and related components.
- Identify developing equipment issues and recommend repairs before they result in breakdowns or extended downtime.
- Complete work orders, inspection reports, and service documentation accurately and on time.
- Communicate repair findings, recommendations, and equipment status professionally with customers and management.
- Follow company, OSHA, DOT, and customer-site safety requirements.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
This is a hands-on, customer-focused role for a Diesel Mechanic who takes pride in quality repairs, troubleshooting problems, and keeping commercial equipment operating safely and reliably.
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Minimum of 1 year of heavy-duty truck and trailer repair experience
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- FMCSA DOT and brake inspector certification or ability to meet certification requirements
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, brakes, electrical, drivetrain, steering, and suspension systems
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
- Basic computer skills for electronic work orders and service documentation
- Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize repairs
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills
