Job Description

SUMMARY :
Layouts, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems, applying knowledge of system operation, and following blueprints.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Layout and fabricate various piping systems.

· Pre-plan and schedule work processes.

· Select type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.

· Cut pipe, using saws, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.

· Assemble and install variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic.

· Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment, such as pumps and cylinders, using hand tools.

· Assists other team members with job duties as necessary.

· Competent with various welding/piping techniques.

· Supervise and lead others.

· Travel to customer locations, MCB Camp Lejeune, MCAS Cherry Point

· Flexibility to work weekends and/or evenings as necessary

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED);

· 5+ years related experience and/or training.

Two years of trade school in pipe fitting or equivalent training is preferred.
