Description
Our Jaffrey headquarters is looking for a Mechanic - Diesel Specialist.
Responsibilities- Responsible for repair of trucks, forklifts, and other mechanical equipment.
- Maintains a working knowledge of, and moderate skill proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems, with the ability to perform preventative and repair maintenance functions, both on‑site and on the road.
- Chassis component repair and maintenance, hydraulic and electrical systems, air and hydraulic braking systems, engine repair and maintenance, suspension, drivetrain and steering systems, heating and air conditioning.
- Performs line maintenance welding and fabrication.
- Coordinates and schedules annual vehicle inspections (certification provided).
- Installs and replaces GPS units as needed.
- Utilizes Geotab for service and repair record keeping.
- Safely provides road service when necessary to ensure that the company’s equipment is returned to operation in a safe and efficient manner.
- Identifies the source of malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools and knowledge.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned or apparent, including keeping the shop and work area clean.
- Keeps a daily log of work performed.
- Is able to lift 70+ pounds.
- Is able to drive long distances (>2 hours).

Qualifications- Prior experience with, or knowledge of, maintenance work to be performed on Classes 1‑5 light/medium‐duty and heavy‑duty Class 7‑8 trucks.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1‑T8) are a plus but not required.
- A Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
- Truck repair school or military vehicle repair school experience is a plus, but not required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass a physical test and obtain a DOT medical card.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel‑powered equipment diagnosis and repair.
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision of suspensions & steering; general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions for heavy trucks or automotive systems.
