Our Record‑to‑Report (RTR) team protects the integrity of Grab's financial statements. Together, we ensure that our financial records are accurate, compliant, and aligned with timelines. Get to Know the Role

As an Assistant Manager, you lead the Month‑End Close (MEC) process and serve as our technical expert for GAAP and SOX standards. You ensure reporting is accurate through detailed analysis, mentor junior staff, and partner with Country Controllers to align local results with regional goals. We are looking for an 'optimizer' who is eager to use automation to simplify our workflows.

You will report to the Manager and will be based onsite at our Jakarta office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
  • Month‑End Leadership
    • Manage the full closing process for assigned entities, ensuring all journal entries and reconciliations are accurate.
  • Country Controller Partnership
    • Serve as the primary contact for Country Controllers, resolving accounting issues, ensuring compliance with local laws, and leading local audit support.
  • Mentorship & Technical Guidance
    • Provide hands‑on support to junior staff, helping them navigate complex balance‑sheet reconciliations and ensuring everything meets GAAP.
  • Innovation & Automation
    • Spot manual bottlenecks in the closing cycle, address them, and use AI tools and ERP features to automate repetitive tasks and make workflows smarter.
  • Compliance & Audit
    • Keep financial records audit‑ready and compliant with SOX requirements; prepare documentation for both internal and external auditors.
  • Strategic Support
    • Lend expertise to regional plans such as system upgrades, entity restructuring, or high‑level financial analysis.
Qualifications
  • Professional Qualifications
    • A recognized accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, ICAEW, or equivalent).
    • 5+ years in accounting or finance at Senior or Assistant Manager level, managing frequent deliverables and steady workflows within a growing organization.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Experience with IFRS or GAAP.
    • Analyzed balance sheets and P&L statements to ensure top‑tier financial reporting.
  • Systems & Innovation
    • Proficiency in advanced Excel and experience navigating Tier 1 ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP.
    • Interest in or experience with AI and automation to improve workflows and increase efficiency.
  • Adaptability
    • The ability to stay grounded and maintain high accuracy during demanding month‑end cycles.
    • Flexible to grow in a tech environment.
  • Mentorship & Leadership
    • Experience with professional development and coaching junior colleagues, sharing technical expertise to help the team succeed.
