Key Responsibilities
- Tax Leadership & Strategy Act as the tax leader for the Indonesia business, providing oversight across direct tax, indirect tax, withholding tax, and transfer pricing. Drive strong local execution that supports business growth while managing tax risk. Proactively assess emerging tax risks, regulatory developments, and planning opportunities, and advise stakeholders on potential impacts and actions.
- Tax Compliance, Reporting & Governance Oversee end‑to‑end tax compliance for the Indonesia business, including CIT, VAT, and WHT. Ensure timely and accurate monthly and annual tax accounting deliverables. Maintain strong governance over tax data quality, documentation, and controls.
- Audit & Risk Management Lead all tax audits, assessments, rulings, and appeals in collaboration with external advisors. Develop and execute robust audit defense strategies supported by sound technical analysis and documentation.
- Business Partnering & Strategic Projects Act as a trusted tax advisor to business, finance, legal, and operations leaders. Ensure tax considerations are embedded early into commercial and operational decision‑making. Provide tax input for strategic initiatives, including M&A, business expansion initiatives, and reorganizations.
- Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement Get into the weeds to understand tax processes, systems, and data flows. Identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and manual workarounds, and drive simplification, standardization, and automation where appropriate. Lead improvements relating to ERP systems, tax reporting tools, and data accuracy. Embed a mindset of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the tax function.
- People Leadership Directly manage and build a high‑performing, resilient team. Set clear priorities, performance expectations, and development plans. Provide hands‑on coaching and technical guidance while empowering the team to operate independently.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
- Professional qualification in Tax or Accounting (CA, CPA, Brevet C, or equivalent).
- 12–15 years of progressive tax experience, ideally combining Big4 and in‑house experience. Experience in multinational environments is highly preferred.
- Exposure to financial services, fintech, banking, lending, payments, or related industries is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and hands‑on, with comfort moving between executive discussions and detailed technical work.
- Strong technical knowledge of direct tax, indirect tax, and transfer pricing regulations.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a proven ability to develop teams and influence stakeholders across the organization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong business acumen and sound decision‑making capabilities.
