Governance & Tax Compliance Senior Associate
The Governance & Tax Compliance Senior Associate bridges execution and review within the compliance practice. This role prepares and reviews complex tax returns, supervises junior team members’ work products, manages day‑to‑day engagement workflow, and serves as the first point of contact for routine client queries. The Senior Associate plays a critical role in analyzing clients’ legal documents, such as akta, NIB, KBLI, and commercial agreements, to ensure accurate tax treatment, and in mapping clients’ business operations and supply chains to identify compliance obligations and optimization opportunities.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review complex corporate and individual tax returns, including SPT Tahunan Badan, SPT Masa PPh 21/22/23/25/26/4(2)/15, and SPT Masa PPN.
Perform detailed tax computation and reconciliation work, including equalization analysis between PPh, PPN, and financial statement figures.
Review and validate work products prepared by Junior Associates and Associates, providing constructive feedback.
Prepare and review tax provision calculations (PSAK 46), including current tax expense, deferred tax assets/liabilities.
Monitor and manage filing deadlines across multiple clients.
Legal Document & Business AnalysisAnalyze clients’ Akta Pendirian and Akta Perubahan to extract corporate structure, authorized capital, business purpose clauses, and ownership arrangements affecting tax treatment.
Verify NIB validity and cross‑reference registered KBLI codes against actual business activities to identify potential mismatches affecting tax obligations or incentive eligibility.
Review standard commercial agreements (distribution, supply, service, licensing, and loan agreements) to identify withholding tax obligations, VAT implications, stamp duty requirements, and timing of recognition for tax purposes.
Map the client’s business operations and supply chain to identify all touchpoints for VAT collection, input tax crediting, and withholding tax obligations.
Document findings from legal document reviews in structured working papers for Manager review.
Support new client onboarding by reviewing the client’s corporate documentation package to establish engagement scope and initial compliance requirements.
Engagement Workflow ManagementManage day‑to‑day engagement workflow, including scoping, timeline organization, workload distribution, and progress tracking.
Prepare risk management procedures and engagement administration documentation.
Coordinate data collection from clients, maintaining organized documentation.
Act as day‑to‑day client liaison for routine queries, status updates, and document requests.
Mentoring & Quality AssuranceCoach and mentor Junior Associates on tax technical concepts, working paper preparation, and professional standards.
Contribute to internal knowledge management by developing templates, checklists, and technical guidance notes.
Participate in internal quality assurance reviews and support the Manager in engagement risk assessment.
Assist in preparing materials for team training sessions.
Qualifications & RequirementsBachelor’s degree (S1) in Accounting, Taxation, Fiscal Administration with min. GPA 3.00/4.00.
3–5 years of progressive experience in tax compliance at a tax consulting firm or equivalent.
Active Brevet A & B certification (mandatory);
Brevet C is preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in Coretax, e‑SPT, e‑Faktur, e‑Bupot, and other DGT platforms.
Strong Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables); familiarity with tax technology platforms is an advantage.
Professional proficiency in English (mandatory).
Working knowledge of corporate law fundamentals: ability to read and interpret Akta, NIB, KBLI, and standard commercial agreements.
Competency ProfileSolid knowledge of Indonesian income tax, value‑added tax, and withholding tax provisions.
Ability to read and extract tax‑relevant information from Akta, NIB, business licenses, and standard commercial contracts.
Competence in supply chain mapping for tax compliance: identifying VAT collection points, input tax crediting, and withholding tax triggers.
Working knowledge of PSAK 46 tax provision methodology.
Understanding of tax equalization and reconciliation techniques.
Foundational familiarity with transfer pricing documentation requirements.
Strong analytical and detail‑oriented mindset with high accuracy standards.
