Assistant Manager Of Inpatient Services

This is a full-time 40 hour a week position. The Assistant Manager of Inpatient Services plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our inpatient unit. Under the guidance and general supervision of the Inpatient Services Manager, this individual fosters a collaborative and compassionate work environment while upholding the highest standards of integrity, service, and excellence. This leadership position involves overseeing inpatient personnel, assisting with scheduling and hiring, managing inventory and budgetary processes, and helping to ensure a smooth, positive experience for both staff and patients.

The Assistant Manager is a visible, approachable presence on the floor, helping to redirect workflow efficiently and mentoring staff with empathy and professionalism. Some key responsibilities include:

• Provide thoughtful oversight and direction to inpatient staff, ensuring high standards of care and team collaboration.
• Maintain a strong, positive presence on the floor, supporting a cohesive team and redirecting workflow to maintain efficiency.
• Act as a role model of integrity and service, reflecting the mission and values of the MSPCA-Angell in every interaction.
• Partner with fellow hospital departments and veterinary staff to ensure compliance with hospital policies and promote excellence in patient care.
• Assist in day-to-day Inpatient Services Department operations, that include ER, ICU and SCU, using sound judgment to help guide decision-making and problem resolution.
• Support staff performance through interactive meetings, coaching, and participation in the review process.
• Assist with administrative tasks including payroll, scheduling, attendance tracking, and personnel records.

Compensation:
Starting at $43/hour. Please note that candidates with additional experience or credentials may be eligible for compensation aligned with their qualifications.

We're seeking a skilled and empathetic leader with:

• At least five years of experience in a veterinary hospital environment; ECC experience is essential.
• A minimum of one year in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written. A cover letter is required to demonstrate your writing and communication abilities.
