The SFPUC Water Enterprise is seeking an experienced Environmental Planner to support environmental planning, federal permitting, regulatory compliance, and lands management activities associated with the Hetch Hetchy Water and Power system and related CIP projects.
Position DescriptionUnder the direction of the Senior Environmental Planner, this position supports environmental review, permitting, and compliance for operations, maintenance, and capital projects on SFPUC watershed lands and Raker Act rights-of-way. Duties include preparing and reviewing CEQA/NEPA documentation; coordinating federal, state, and local permits; managing consultants and technical studies; supporting cultural and natural resource compliance; interpreting permits and land management documents; and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the SFPUC.
The ideal candidate will have experience with environmental permitting and compliance, federal land management, utility operations, cultural or natural resources management, and interdisciplinary project coordination. Experience with NEPA, NHPA, FLPMA, GIS, consultant management, and federal special use authorizations is desirable.
Location & Working ConditionsThis position is based in Moccasin, California and requires in-person work a minimum of four days per week. Field work may include travel to remote watershed locations in varying weather conditions.
