Job Description and Duties
This advertisement is for a Stationary Engineer (Correctional Facility) position located at Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown, Tuolumne County. Please indicate the position number on your application:

Under general direction of the Chief Engineer I (CE I), Stationary Engineer (SE), CF-Boiler Room 3rd Watch assumes the normal and routine duties of the Boiler operations for the Watch to be relieved. The duties include, but are not limited to, ordering fuel for the Main and Facility C boilers, operation, repairs, maintenance and preventative maintenance (PM) of high-pressure boilers and related equipment.
Repair, service, and perform preventative maintenance (PM) to Boiler Room auxiliary equipment, boiler feedwater pumps, electrical motors, high and low-pressure steam piping, perform boiler feedwater tests and administer feedwater chemicals as necessary to prevent corrosion and scale to boiler internal parts, steam and condensate pipes and plant auxiliary equipment. This position may also be required to perform work (within the scope of civil service classification Stationary Engineer), as needed by the institution in assisting other maintenance staff or in another area.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 30, 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Working Conditions
About this location -- Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) is located in the foothills near Jamestown, California, in the heart of the Mother Lode Gold Country.
It is adjacent to the Stanislaus National Forest, offering pine trees, mountain streams, and an abundance of recreational activities (fishing, swimming, camping, skiing, golfing, etc.).The prison is approximately 70 miles from Yosemite National Park.
The primary mission of SCC is to provide housing, programs and services for minimum and medium custody incarcerated individuals, to aid in their rehabilitation. SCC is responsible for the training and placement of male incarcerated individuals in the Conservation Camp Program. SCC administers male camps located throughout California.
