The jobholder performs moderately complex record‑keeping duties associated with the processing, reconciling, reporting, and analysis of payments made under federal and state financial aid programs. This includes authorizing payment of direct educational expenses and excess funds payments to students from federal, state, and local monies within governmental rules and regulations; calculating and authorizing the return of Title IV and state grant funds for withdrawn students;
monitoring and reporting over payments to the Department of Education; and notifying the college finance office and students of any resulting debt.
Min Salary: $40,172.55
Mid Salary: $45,194.12 – Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Education- Associate Degree in accounting or a related field from a regionally accredited institution (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field from a regionally accredited institution (Preferred)
- No experience required (Required)
- One or more years of accounting or financial aid office experience (Preferred)
- Proficient use of PC for spreadsheets, word processing, email, and internet.
- Skilled in maintaining accurate and auditable financial aid records.
- Skilled at applying federal, state, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
- Capable of working in a team environment both within the department and throughout the college.
- Ability to readily adjust to change.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit discretion and sound judgment in decision‑making.
- Excellent math skills, with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.
