Job Title:
Instructor, Humanities - Adjunct

Teaching
- Develop learner-centered lesson plans.
- Employ teaching strategies and instructional materials for different learning styles.
- Incorporate current technology in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments.
- Create and model a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population.
- Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate.
- Conduct assessment of student learning outcomes in courses and programs/general education as appropriate.
Professional Development
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in field; maintain current credentials or licensures as required.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to advance teaching skills and strategies.
Administration
- Maintain classroom and laboratory spaces, including upkeep of assigned equipment.
- Provide for the security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials and maintain safe working conditions.
- Maintain student records (grades and attendance) in accordance with established deadlines using technology-based programs.
- Comply with all applicable college, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Student Support
- Conduct recruiting activities.
- Promote retention/persistence by assisting students to develop strategies for success.
- Refer students to campus and community resources when appropriate.
Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain student records.
- Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Required
:
Master’s degree in Liberal Studies or a related field from an institutionally accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hour credits in Liberal Studies.
Education Preferred
:
Doctoral degree in a related Humanities field from an institutionally accredited university.
Experience Required
:
Post-secondary teaching experience in Humanities.
Experience Preferred
:
- Community College teaching experience.
- Post-secondary teaching experience in Humanities.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
