ResponsibilitiesTeaching
- Develop learner‑centered lesson plans.
- Employ teaching strategies and instructional materials for diverse learning styles.
- Incorporate current technology in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments.
- Create and model a high‑quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population.
- Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including syllabi and supplementary materials.
- Conduct assessment of student learning outcomes in courses and programs.
Professional Development
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field and keep credentials current.
- Engage in opportunities to advance teaching skills and strategies.
Administration
- Maintain classroom and laboratory spaces, ensuring equipment upkeep and safe working conditions.
- Provide for the security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Maintain student records (grades, attendance) in accordance with established deadlines using technology platforms such as Canvas.
- Comply with applicable college, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Student Support
- Conduct recruiting activities.
- Promote retention and persistence by assisting students with success strategies.
- Refer students to campus and community resources when appropriate.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain student records.
- Perform all duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork.
Education Required
Master’s degree in Spanish or a related field from an institutionally accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hour credits in Spanish.
Education Preferred
Doctoral degree in Spanish from an institutionally accredited university.
Experience Required
Post‑secondary teaching experience in Spanish.
Experience Preferred
- Community College teaching experience.
- Post‑secondary teaching experience in Spanish.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Required
The Instructor shall possess an understanding of and commitment to the nature and role of the Community College, particularly its “open door” policy. He/she shall have demonstrated personal and professional competence for the responsibilities assigned. The Instructor must be able to:
