Instructor, Floral Arrangement/Design – Adjunct

Full Time/Part Time

Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) support student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, and demonstrating professionalism. This role provides quality instruction in floral design classes for community enrichment programs and may require teaching at any GTCC campus, including day, evenings, or weekends.

• Teaching
  • Prepare and teach departmental courses, including developing learner-centered lesson plans.
  • Employ teaching strategies and instructional materials for diverse learning styles.
  • Incorporate current technology into classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments.
  • Create and model a quality learning environment supporting a diverse student population.
  • Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials such as syllabi and supplementary media.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning outcomes.
• Professional Development
  • Participate in activities to maintain currency in the field; maintain current credentials or licensures as required.
  • Engage in opportunities to advance teaching skills and strategies.
• Administration
  • Oversee facilities, equipment, and student records, ensuring upkeep and security.
  • Maintain student records, including grades and attendance, using technology-based programs.
  • Comply with college, state, and federal rules and regulations.
• Student Support
  • Address student concerns promptly.
  • Promote retention by assisting students to develop strategies for success.
  • Refer students to campus and community resources when appropriate.
• Additional Duties – Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
• Certified Floral Designer (CFD) through the American Institute of Floral Designers.

• Two years’ experience in floral design and a project portfolio, photos, or documented industry experience.
• Teaching and/or industry training experience, including courses, workshops, or continuing education seminars.

• Greater than two years’ experience in professional floral arrangement as documented through portfolio or industry experience.
