Department of Environmental Protection and Dendrology, Institute of Horticultural Sciences at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences is hiring a person for the position of a Research and Teaching Assistant.

Skills/Qualifications

The candidate should:

hold at least a master’s degree in environmental protection, landscape architecture, horticulture, agriculture or a related field, have scientific achievements in the form of at least two publications that have appeared in a peer-reviewed scientific journal indexed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, have at least one year of experience in teaching at university level, have documented at least a good command of English and the ability to write scientific papers in English, confirmed by relevant publications, have knowledge in the field of environmental protection, environmental management and ecology, in particular in the field of urban environmental protection policies and urban adaptation plans to climate change, confirmed by relevant publications, and have a fluent knowledge of Polish at a level that allows them to conduct classes with students in the initial years of studies, obtain a positive opinion of the committee responsible for teaching on the teaching activities conducted, and in the case of persons applying for employment who are not employees of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences – obtain a positive opinion of the committee for a scientific paper presented at a seminar organised at the Department of Environmental Protection and Dendrology.

Desired additional qualifications for candidates:

  • Knowledge of the functioning of European structures and the relationship between Polish and EU law;
  • Knowledge of Polish and EU environmental protection policy and Polish and EU environmental protection strategies and policies.
  • Experience in conducting training courses, lectures, and presentations at international events;
    Knowledge of Personal Data Protection regulations;
  • Knowledge of issues related to urban adaptation to climate change;
  • Experience in organizing events and disseminating knowledge about environmental protection and/or adaptation to climate change;
  • Ability to write high-scoring scientific publications in English;
  • Ability to work in a team and organize working time flexibly;
  • Meticulousness and accuracy;
  • Computer skills in the following programs: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Excel.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants for the position must meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668, as amended) and in the Statute of Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW, Section VIII – Employees of SGGW.

Candidates are required to submit the following documents:

  • application for employment addressed to the Rector of Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW;
  • curriculum vitae including professional experience and scientific achievements;
  • list of published papers and papers accepted for publication;
  • reference letter or reference letters;
  • copy of a diploma confirming completion of higher education;
