Offer Description

Candidates for Assistant Professorship are required to:

  • have a PhD in the discipline of philosophy;
  • have a documented research experience in the field of methodology of science and philosophy of science;
  • have a demonstrated strong track record of publications in the top journals in the field;
  • have experience in teaching logic, methodology of science, and philosophy of science;
  • have experience in obtaining external research funding, both domestic and international;
  • have carried out research at international scientific institutions;
  • have a very good command of Polish and English, both spoken and written;
  • meet the condition of having no criminal record with respect to offenses specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, in Article 189a and Article 207 of the Penal Code, and in the Act of July 29, 2005, on Counteracting Drug Addiction, as well as for corresponding prohibited acts specified in the provisions of foreign law.

Additional assets include:

  • a PhD obtained abroad;
  • a good command of German;
  • experience in teaching semiotics and argumentation theory.

Basic job responsibilities include:

  • conducting scholarly research;
  • teaching graduate and undergraduate classes, including courses for international students;
  • contributing to the Department’s academic and administrative activities.

The University reserves the right to invite only shortlisted candidates for an interview. 4. Personal data will be processed:
1) based on the applicable provisions of the law, including the Labour Code;

by including a declaration in your application. In order to do so please include the following
statement: I consent to the processing of my personal data, contained in my application, for
future recruitment conducted by the University of Lodz.
5. Recipients of your personal data will be entities processing personal data on behalf of and for the
University on the basis of the concluded agreement and other entities authorised under the law.
6. Your personal data will be processed no longer than for three months after the recruitment process
is completed. In justified cases the data will be kept in accordance with other provisions of law,
including the Civil Code.
7. You have the right to:
1) access the content of your data;
2) rectify your data when they are not accurate;
3) erase or limit the processing and transfer your data - in cases provided for by law;
4) object to the processing of your personal data;
5) withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of the processing that was
carried out before the withdrawal of consent;
6) lodge a complaint to the supervisory authority, which is the President of the Personal Data
Protection Office, based in Warsaw at Stawki 2.
8. The provision of personal data is voluntary but necessary for the purpose referred to in section 3.
The processing of personal data is carried out on the basis of:
Article 6(1), c), a) and Article 9(2)(a) of
Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the
protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement
of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation
Dz.U.UE.L..1).
