VICE-RECTOR IN CHARGE OF THE SCHOOL OF NATURAL SCIENCES AT THE ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY, POZNAN ANNOUNCES A COMPETITION for the position of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR located at the Genome Biology Research Unit in the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biology.

Skills/Qualifications

• a doctoral degree in biological sciences, agricultural sciences, or related disciplines;
• a very good scientific track record documented by publications in renowned international scientific journals in the field of plant molecular genetics, with particular emphasis on the mechanisms of meiotic recombination and its control;
• active participation in, or leadership of, at least one research project funded from external sources;
• international and national scientific collaboration documented by joint publications;
• experience in working with advanced molecular genetics techniques, e.g. ChIP-qPCR, RT-qPCR, next-generation sequencing (NGS), DNA cloning and recombination techniques, and genome editing using CRISPR/Cas systems;
• at least basic knowledge of bioinformatics tools used for the analysis of sequencing data generated on Illumina, and Pac Bio or ONT platforms;
• completion of at least a several-month postdoctoral fellowship at a foreign research institution;
• experience in teaching at the academic level.

• scientific achievements documented by publications and their compliance with the research area competition requirements (0-20 pts);

• experience in teaching at the academic level; compliance of the candidate's teaching skills with the didactic activity of the Faculty of Biology; readiness to conduct classes in Polish and English (0-5 pts).

• competition committee begins working no later than 14 days after the deadline for submission of documents;
• formal evaluation of submitted proposals;
• call to provide additional or missing documents if necessary;
• selection of candidates for the interview stage;
• interviews for candidates who meet the formal requirements;
• the committee has the right to request external reviews of candidates' work or to ask candidates to conduct teaching assignments with an opportunity for student evaluation;
• the chair of the competition committee announces the results and informs the candidates; this information will include justification with a reference to candidates' strengths and weaknesses; submitted documents will be sent back to candidates (not applicable for documents sent by e-mail).
