Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements set out in the Act of 20 July 2018 – the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668, as amended) and the Statute of the University of Wrocław.

Competition requirements

The candidate is required to:

  • 1. Hold a PhD in the humanities in the discipline of literary studies or polish studies.
  • 2. Conduct research in the field of literary studies or polish studies and have a documented record of current scholarly achievements.
  • 3. Have knowledge in the substantive and administrative management of publishing activities.
  • 4. Have teaching experience at a research-oriented higher education institution, particularly in delivering courses in literary theory and contemporary book editing and publishing.
  • 5. Be fluent in Polish, both spoken and written, and have a command of English at a minimum of B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
  • The recruitment committee will also take into consideration:

    • The candidate’s documented scholarly record in interdisciplinary research.
    • Experience in teaching project-based academic courses.
    • Professional experience in editing, publishing and cooperation with cultural institutions.

    Scope of responsibilities
    (in the research, teaching, and organizational areas, respectively)

    • Conducting research in literary studies or polish studies, particularly in literary theory and book editing, including applying for internal, national, and international grants in accordance with the criteria established by the relevant Discipline Council.
    • Publishing research findings with the affiliation "University of Wrocław" and ensuring their proper documentation through the Library of the Institute of Polish Studies.
    • Actively participating in the scientific and organizing activities of the Department of Editing and the Institute of Polish studies at the University of Wrocław.
    • Conducting teaching activities and performing administrative tasks related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process, in the scope and volume defined for the position of the assistant professor, in accordance with the current regulations of the University of Wrocław.
    • Performing other tasks and duties related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process, as assigned by the supervisors.
    • Photocopy(ies) of the diploma(s) confirming a doctoral degree.
    • A statement that, in the event of winning the competition, the University of Wrocław will be the candidate’s primary place of employment. (download Workplace statement ).
