professor at the Department of the History of Romanticism / Institute of Polish Studies, Faculty of Letters

Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements set out in the Act of 20 July 2018 – the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668, as amended) and the Statute of the University of Wrocław.

The candidate is required to:

1. Possess a doctoral degree in the humanities in the discipline of literary studies or polish studies;

2. Conduct research in the field of literary studies or polish studies and have a considerabledocumented academic record on topics relating to 19th-century Polish literature;

3. Conducting research on Polish Romantic literature (certified by papers), also on the Romantic tradition in the literature of later periods (particularly the second half of the 19th century);

4. Experience in the substantive and organisational aspects of organising academic conferences;

5. Experience in teaching at an academic higher education institution, in particular in delivering courses on the history of 19th-century Polish literature;

6. Experience in carrying out research projects and grants (including as a principal investigator) particularly from the National Programme for Research and Development (NPRH) and the National Science Centre (NCN);

7. Experience in digital humanities, utilising new methodologies;

8. Experience in the scholarly editing of 19th-century literature;

9. Be fluent in Polish, both spoken and written, and have a command of English at a minimum of B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The Commission will also take into consideration:

  • The candidate’s documented academic achievements in the field of interdisciplinary research.
  • Experience in delivering interdisciplinary academic courses.
  • Experience in teaching project-based academic courses.
  • Experience in submitting grant applications.
  • Experience in science communication and collaboration with cultural institutions.
  • Experience in international scientific collaboration.

Responsibilities (in the research, teaching, organizational areas respectively):

  • Conducting research in the field of literary studies or Polish studies, including applying for internal, national and international grants, in accordance with the criteria set by the relevant Disciplinary Board.
  • Publishing research findings under the affiliation ‘University of Wrocław’ and ensuring their proper archiving via the Library of the Institute of Polish Philology at the University of Wrocław.
  • Active participation in the academic and organisational activities of the Department of Romantic Literature History and the Institute of Polish Philology at the University of Wrocław.
  • Conducting teaching activities and administrative work related to the implementation and organisation of the teaching process within the scope and workload prescribed for the position of university professor in accordance with the current internal regulations of the University of Wrocław.
