The competition is announced for the position of Assistant Professor (research and teaching) at the Department of Chemical Technology and Materials Physicochemistry. The position is offered as the candidate's primary place of employment.
The competition is open to candidates who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended).
The successful candidate appointed to the position of Assistant Professor (research and teaching) will be responsible for teaching selected courses, including lectures, tutorial classes, and laboratory classes, with a teaching load of at least 240 teaching hours per academic year in full-time and part-time study programmes. The assigned teaching duties will include courses in physics and/or mathematics, with the final selection depending on the candidate's qualifications, academic background, and the teaching needs of the academic unit.
The successful candidate will also participate in the organisation of the teaching process, including the development and preparation of teaching materials, laboratory exercises, and laboratory manuals.
In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to conduct scientific research. The candidate is expected to actively contribute to the research activities carried out within the Department and to seek external funding for research projects from national and international funding agencies.
The candidate's research activities will focus on the theoretical investigation of organic compounds using computational chemistry and molecular modelling methods. The research will include, in particular, the determination of electronic structure, physicochemical properties, reactivity, and reaction mechanisms of organic compounds using quantum chemical methods and modern computational tools.
The successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to the development of the Department's research activities by initiating and conducting research projects, publishing research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and establishing scientific collaborations with national and international research institutions. The candidate should have at least a good command of spoken and written English and demonstrate creativity, commitment, strong teamwork and communication skills, as well as a systematic approach to work.

Skills/Qualifications
The candidate is required to meet the following qualification criteria (please adjust to the position), e.g.:
- holding a doctoral degree in chemical, physical, or related sciences,
- documented scientific achievements in theoretical chemistry, computational chemistry, or molecular modeling,
- practical experience in applying quantum chemical methods (e.g., DFT) and software used in chemical calculations,
- the ability to conduct independent scientific research,
- experience in: participating in national and/or international research projects, preparing project documentation (NCN, NCBiR), publishing results in reputable scientific journals,
- pedagogical training or willingness to undertake a course in pedagogical training, and teaching experience or aptitude for teaching physics and/or mathematics at an academic level,
- knowledge of English sufficient to conduct scientific research and prepare publications,
in the case of foreigners, the command of the Polish language, spoken and written, is required to the extent that enables conducting classes with students.
