RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY announces the competition for the position of assistant (F/ M) in the group of research and teaching employees (full-time) in the Division of Applied Physics at the Institute of Physics
on the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.
Job description:persons who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (consol. text, Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339) may enter the competition for the position of assistant (F / M);estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2026;workplace and type of contract:
Division of Applied Physics (RIF3), full-time employment; anticipated period of employment: from 01.10.2026 to 30.09.2027 (with the possibility of extension).Requirements:
a Master's degree or Master of Engineering degree in physics or chemistry;participation in thematic conferences or symposia;proficiency in spoken and written Polish and proficiency in English at a minimum B2 level, sufficient to conduct teaching activities in both languages.Additional requirements:laboratory experience in sample preparation, measurements, and analysis of results obtained using surface-sensitive research methods, particularly X-ray and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy;experience in operating and servicing vacuum equipment;experience with other electron spectroscopy methods will be an advantage;scientific publications in physics/materials science.Required documents:
application for employment/cover letter, including justification for employment in a research and teaching position (max. 1 page);curriculum vitae (CV);scans of diplomas (for a foreign diploma: confirmation that it has been recognized as equivalent, pursuant to Article 327 of the Law on Higher Education and Science);confirmation of participation in thematic conferences or symposia;declaration of proficiency in spoken and written English;declaration of proficiency in Polish or documented experience of teaching in Polish (applies to candidates whose native language is not Polish);declaration that the Silesian University of Technology will be the candidate's primary place of employment;declaration that the candidate will assign at least 100% of their research activity to the discipline of Materials Engineering;information on previous scientific, teaching, and organizational achievements;individual development plan, including a schedule for its implementation during the period of employment;opinion from the academic supervisor or Master's thesis supervisor regarding the candidate's suitability for work as a research and teaching employee;other information confirming that the candidate meets the above requirements for the advertised position.The University offers:
