RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY announces the competition for the position assistant (female/male) in a group of research and teaching employees in the Department of Mechanics and Bridges at the Faculty of Civil Engineering on the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.

• persons, who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (consol. text, Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339) may enter the competition for the position assistant ;
• estimated work commencement date: 01.12.2026;
• workplace and type of contract:
  Department of Mechanics and Bridges at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, full-time employment contract;
• anticipated period of employment: from 01.12.2026 to 30.09.2028 (with the possibility of extension).

• having a professional title of Master of Science (MSc);
• participation in thematic conferences or symposia;
• proficiency in Polish sufficient to teach courses in that language;
• proficiency in English sufficient to teach courses in that language.

• participation in international conferences on bridge engineering and machine learning - additional advantage;
• having a record of publications;
• experience in bridge engineering, with particular expertise in bridge design and structural modeling;
• experience in conducting load tests on bridges;
• experience in implementing structural health monitoring systems for bridges;
• knowledge of machine learning methods and artificial neural networks;
• scientific achievements confirmed by publications in scientific journals, as determined by the following quantitative and qualitative indicators: a total Impact Factor (IF) of no less than 10 (with at least
  2 publications with an IF), a Hirsch index of no less than 2 (according to the WoS or Scopus databases), a total MNiSW publication score of no less than 600.

• employment application;
• professional curriculum vitae (CV) containing, among other things, information on scientific, teaching, and organizational achievements;
• scans of diplomas (in the case of a foreign diploma – confirmation of recognition as equivalent (in accordance with Article 327 of the Law on Higher Education);
• confirmation of participation in thematic conefrences and symposia,
• information of up – to – date research, didactic and organizational results;
• information on the planned direction of further activity;
• a declaration of active knowledge of English;
• a declaration regarding knowledge of the Polish language (for candidates whose native language is not Polish);
• a declaration that the Silesian University of Technology will be the primary place of employment;
• opinion of academic teacher with the academic degree of habilitated doctor or equivalent – academic supervisor or thesis supervisor – concerning candidate’s predisposition to work as research and teaching employee.
