The Rector of the University of Szczecin announces recruitment competition for the position of Assistant Professor (archaeology) at the Institute of History, University of Szczecin.

The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions specified in Articles 113 and 116 of the Act of July 20, 2018, on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and in the Statutes of the University of Szczecin, and who meet the criteria specified in the competition.

The competition is the first stage of the procedure for hiring an academic teacher, and a successful outcome serves as the basis for further proceedings.

Skills/Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in archaeology;
  • documented expertise in Stone Age archaeology, lithic technology, experimental archaeology, environmental archaeology, as well as geology and geomorphology;
  • Experience in conducting archaeological fieldwork outside Poland;
  • five years of academic teaching experience;
  • documented scholarly output (three publications subject to evaluation as defined by law, including at least two publications within the last three calendar years);
  • specific research and publication plans;
  • availability to attend classes throughout the week;
  • agreement to employment on a standard full-time basis only;
  • in the case of foreign nationals, proficiency in spoken and written Polish.

Additional advantages include:

  • proficiency in English.

  • a list of academic publications;
  • a description of previous teaching experience and other achievements in the field of academic organization and science popularization;
  • information on specific research and publication plans;
  • a statement confirming compliance with the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Act of July 20, 2018, on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended), (downloadable form);
  • a statement confirming that the University of Szczecin will be the primary place of employment (downloadable form);
