The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements

The candidate is required to have:

  • Hold at least a master’s degree in Sinology or a related discipline in the humanities, obtained in the Republic of Poland or abroad. For foreign candidates, the regulations on the recognition of education obtained abroad apply. Degrees obtained in countries with which Poland has not concluded bilateral agreements on the recognition of education obtained abroad as equivalent to education obtained in Poland are subject to recognition.
  • For candidates who are not native speakers of Chinese, proficiency in Chinese must be certified by a diploma.
  • Competencies, qualifications, and experience in working with university students, documented in the professional resume, enabling the proper conduct of academic classes (exercises, tutorials, seminars, and/or lectures).
  • Availability to teach both full-time and part-time courses.
  • For international candidates, proficiency in English (B2 level) sufficient to conduct classes in that language or proficiency in Polish at a communicative level (B1 level)
  • The selection committee will also take into account the following additional criteria related to the teaching needs of the Department of Chinese Studies and the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean, and Oriental Studies: the ability to teach courses on classical and contemporary Chinese literature, activities aimed at promoting knowledge about China.

Responsibilities:

In the teaching area:

  • Conducting classes related to the teaching process, based on the current needs of the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean, and Oriental Studies, in accordance with the workload prescribed for the position of lecturer, in compliance with the current internal regulations of the University of Wrocław, specifically in the following courses:
    Practical Chinese Language, 20th- and 21st-Century Chinese Literature.
  • Participation in the development of the Institute’s educational offerings, including contributions to the creation of new curricula.
  • Initiating new academic partnerships with domestic and international research institutions.

In the organizational area:

  • Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation, organization, and improvement of the teaching process as indicated by the Director of the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean, and Oriental Studies.
  • Participating in the organization of academic and cultural events.
  • A photocopy of the diploma certifying the award of a master’s degree or higher.
  • Statement of whether the University of Wroclaw will be the primary workplace in the event of winning the competition (download Workplace statement ).
