Youth Development Educator

Cornell Coperative Extension of Chautauqua County has an opening for part time 4-H Youth Development Educator working from the Jamestown NY office.

The 4-H Youth Development Educator will serve as a member of the 4-H Youth Development team to assist with delivery and evaluation of the 4-H Youth Development educational programs and activities.

Educator will be responsible for promoting program objectives and plans in all areas of 4-H Youth Development programming with emphasis on 4-H Camp, Spark Programming, the BOCES Co-Ser, and 4-H Club Programming.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent Education. (Associate degree plus 2 years transferrable, relevant program/functional experience may substitute).
• Experience relevant to the role of the position.
• Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
• Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
• Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
• Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.
• Ability to present effective and relevant educational lessons to target audiences in group settings.
• Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, community, and professional leaders.
• Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.
• Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information.
• Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks, deadlines, requirements, and priorities to complete work in a timely manner and within established deadlines.
• Proficiency with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to work in a typical office environment which may include lifting, moving, and/or transporting office supplies, work related materials, and equipment with or without accommodation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Coursework in Education, Agriculture, and/or Human/Youth Development.
• Experience with Cooperative Extension or other similar educational organizations.
• Experience working with and collaborating with volunteers.
• Experience in 4-H and/or FFA.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Program Delivery - 70%
• Deliver high quality, established 4-H Youth Development educational programs and events that address local, regional, and statewide 4-H Youth Development programming priorities.
• Assist in delivering innovative educational programs to impact audiences through a variety of delivery methods, with support and direction from supervisor.
• Participate in special events including, but not limited to, 4-H Leader training, County Fair, State Fair, 4-H Fundraising, Public Presentations, Achievement Night, enrollment campaign, and other extension association activities, as assigned.
• Occasionally apply existing subject matter knowledge to create lessons plans to deliver educational programs.
• Utilize a variety of educational methods which may include direct teaching, group experiences, media, newsletters, electronic technology, internet, and distance learning to deliver programs.
• Serve as subject matter resource utilizing existing subject matter resources and materials.
