We are looking for a mechanical engineering leader to drive the standards, processes, and performance of our mechanical engineering discipline across our global R&D organization.
In this role, you will lead a distributed engineering community, influence product development across multiple sites, and ensure the delivery of high‑performance, cost‑effective, and reliable mechanical solutions. You will play a key role in shaping engineering methods, tools, and capabilities as part of a cross‑disciplinary team of global engineering leaders.
What you will do- Lead the Mechanical Engineering Discipline worldwide, collaborating with engineers globally, and ensuring alignment with business strategy and product roadmaps
- Define and deploy global standards, methodologies, training, and tools for mechanical design and development
- Act as a technical authority and advisor to engineering leadership and cross‑functional teams
- Work closely with product development teams at all sites to support program execution, design reviews, and readiness for project gates
- Promote cross‑team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with business leaders, other engineering disciplines, and all company functions to meet business needs throughout the entire product life cycle
- Ensure successful delivery of quality mechanical engineering work packages across a portfolio of global projects
- Support global resource planning and capacity management for central and regional engineering teams
- Identify risks, drive mitigation plans, lead problem solving, and escalates issues impacting delivery or quality
- Develop and continuously improve a high‑performing, collaborative global mechanical engineering community
- Attract, develop, and retain the best talent to ensure the highest standard of excellence
- Lead hiring, performance management, and succession planning
- Drive skills development, training programs, and career pathways across the discipline
- Ensure consistent application of engineering design processes from requirements through validation and production
- Promote adoption of advanced tools, methods, and engineering practices
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and time‑to‑market
- Enable a Platform Strategy to drive reuse and efficiency in product development
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s or PhD preferred)
- 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering R&D within global industrial environments
- 10+ years of direct and indirect leadership experience managing teams across multiple regions
- Strong experience in:
- Full product lifecycle
- Leading global, cross‑functional engineering teams
- Driving process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ability to travel internationally as needed up to 10‑15% of the time
- Strategic mindset with strong technical credibility and excellent organizational skills
- Proven ability to influence in a global matrix organization
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Leadership style that fosters collaboration, accountability, and performance
- Adaptability in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment
- Experience in the use of CAE/FEA to evaluate complex assemblies, thermal effects, structural dynamics, and material characterization preferred
- Experience with Design for Value and Design for Sustainability preferred
- Experience with Creo, Windchill, JIRA, SharePoint, and/or SAP preferred
