RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY announces the competition for the position of Assistant (F / M) the group of research and teaching employees in the Department of Biomechatronics at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering on the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.

Job description:

• 1) persons, who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (consol. text, Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339) may enter the competition for the position of Assistant(F / M);
• 2) estimated work commencement date: 1 October 2026;
• 3) workplace and type of contract:
  Department of Biomechatronics, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering; full-time employment contract;
• 4) anticipated period of employment: from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Requirements:

• 1) a Master’s degree or Master of Engineering degree in biomedical engineering, preferably with a specialization in Biomechatronics and Medical Equipment or in a related field;
• 2) participation in thematic conferences or symposia;
• 3) proficiency in spoken and written Polish and a command of English sufficient to conduct classes in both languages.

Additional requirements:

• 1) a record of scientific achievements in biomedical engineering, particularly in the field of biomechanics, demonstrated by:
  • at least several publications in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR),
  • presentations at national scientific conferences, with presentations at international conferences being an additional advantage;
• 2) experience in organizing events promoting and popularizing science;
• 3) experience in conducting scientific research or project work involving virtual reality technologies in areas such as biomedical engineering, biomechanics, rehabilitation, human motion analysis or the assessment of motor functions;
• 4) experience in managing or participating in research, teaching or development projects in biomedical engineering, particularly projects involving VR technologies, measurement systems or functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS);
• 5) knowledge of fNIRS technology and its potential applications in functional neuroimaging research, particularly in the analysis of cortical activity during motor or cognitive tasks or experiments conducted in VR environments;
• 6) the ability to develop VR applications for scientific research, particularly to design experimental environments, implement research scenarios, record measurement data and integrate VR applications with external measurement systems;
• 7) knowledge of the Unity environment, including the configuration of 3D and VR scenes, components, prefabs, user interactions, input systems and the integration of virtual environments with research procedures;
• 8) knowledge of Statistica and/or JASSP software and the ability to perform statistical analyses of measurement data;
• 9) the ability to design numerical algorithms and develop computer programs in MATLAB for the processing, visualization and interpretation of data obtained from biomechanical measurement systems;
• 10) experience in working with systems used for human motion analysis and the assessment of balance and postural stability, particularly Xsens inertial systems, treadmills used for gait perturbation, and stabilographic platforms.
