HCI SQL Database Administrator

Description

The ideal candidate will have a strong SQL background to support core database administration focused on SQL databases. He/she should be able to lead the customer call and provide design level support to the customers in scope and share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members. He/she is required to manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems as well as to configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

• Provide L3+ support for core database administration focused on SQL databases.
• Deliver DBA services to the customer.
• Interact with clients over calls and provide details and reasoning of the deliverables.
• Lead customer calls and provide design level support to the client.
• Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
• Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
• Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
• Provide escalated technical support for complex technical issues, including leading problem management cases and providing management status.
• Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing end-to-end problem resolution.
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
• Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
• Provide on-call support for critical production systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
• Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
• Experience with enterprise administrative scripting using a major scripting language and experience with software deployment.
• Knowledge of network architecture and protocols.

• Senior IT Engineer, with 7+ years on SQL Server 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2025, including SQL on Azure, AWS.
• Experience in administration of other database services like SSAS, SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience in installing different SQL server versions as per customer requirements.
• Experience in upgrading and migrating databases from lower to higher versions.
• Experience in applying latest patches (SP/CU/GDR/Hotfixes) to fix vulnerabilities and strong troubleshooting skills on resolving patching issues.
• Knowledge of Windows clustering is a plus; experience in MSSQL cluster environments (Active-Active or Active-Passive).
• Supported SQL Server on Linux/Windows both migrations and ongoing support.
• Experience in handling HADR environments (Log Shipping, Replication/CDC, Mirroring and AOAG).
• Skilled in Backups & Disaster Recovery.
• Strong experience in automating DB tasks, health checks, blocking, disk space, maintenance tasks, etc.
• Documentation skills for processes and procedures (creating KBs, runbooks, etc.).
• Experience in implementing operational automation.
• Be available for on-call support as needed.
• Working knowledge in T-SQL, BCP, DTS and SSIS development.
• Multi-customer work experience and managed service format.

• Knowledge of backup tools such as Rubrik, Veeam, Commvault, Semantic Net Backup would be a plus.
• Experience in Power Shell scripting automation would be a plus.
• Any cloud architecture certification is preferable.
• Knowledge and hands-on expertise in Oracle, Postgre
  
  SQL, MySQL and Mongo
  
  DB would be additional value.
• Azure data fundamentals related certification and/or MySQL/EDB Postgre
  
  SQL database certifications is a plus.
