Senior IT Security Specialist

We are looking for a Senior IT Security Specialist to join the Cyber Defence Centre Engineering team. The role focuses on improving detection capabilities and automating detection processes by deploying advanced correlation rules.

• Develop, implement and maintain custom correlation rules and detection logic to identify emerging cyber security threats.
• Continuously tune and refine existing correlation rules to reduce false positives and improve detection accuracy.
• Create complex multi‑stage correlation rules for advanced threats and sophisticated attack patterns.
• Perform advanced log analysis and correlation to identify potential security threats and incidents.
• Collaborate with incident response and monitoring teams to provide technical expertise during security investigations.

• Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities to identify security events and patterns.
• Attention to detail and a methodical approach when developing correlation rules.
• Technical precision in rule development to balance detection accuracy with operational efficiency.
• Curiosity and adaptability to stay up to date with evolving threat landscapes and emerging attack techniques.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cyber Security or a related technical field.
• 3–5+ years hands‑on experience with enterprise SIEM platforms (Splunk, IBM QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel, Arc Sight).
• Advanced query languages SPL, SQL and regex for log analysis.
• Data parsing and normalization techniques for log sources and formats.

• API integration and automation scripting (Python, Power Shell, Bash).
• Advanced certifications such as GCIH, GCFA, GIAC, CIISP or vendor specific SIEM certifications.
