Under the general direction of the Production Supervisor, while demonstrating a commitment to quality, efficiency and accuracy, the Lead Technician is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the production team, such as the orbital welding, tig welders, quality testing, passivation, clean rinse and pack teams. The position is responsible for ensuring that quality parts are being produced / assembled in a timely fashion.

The Lead Technician will regularly communicate with management and employees to address and manage work and personal expectations. The Lead Technician will lead by example and ensure all employees are adequately and safely trained in their daily tasks and activities and ensure that the company goals, objectives and productivity are met.

This position requires the Lead Technician to be knowledgeable and familiar with:

• ISO 9001 procedures
• PPAP
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT)
• Quality Documentation
• First in First out “FIFO”, quality documentation records, and associated traceability.
• Welding machinery and procedures (training will be provided as needed)

• A strong technical quality background
• Inspect quality of parts for conformance requirements (helium Testing for leaks, and 3D scanning for dimensional).
• Utilize Coordained Measuring Equipment (3D scanner, FARO ARM) Trading will be provided as needed.
• Comply with ISO quality program and procedures
• Ability to learn new techniques improve processes, coach and mentor staff
• Ability to monitor and manage workloads, and staff requirements for time production needs
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerance
• of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, tools to be used, and material for the job and setup requirements.
• Set up and program orbital welding equipment
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
• Adjust machine to reach tolerances required
• Keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment
• Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machining tools including computer numerically controlled tools
• Operate mobile equipment
• Participate in process and product improvement
• Strong Communication:
  Both internally and point of contact to customer

• Collaborates with all department heads and lead hands
• Cooperates with and coordinates work activities with fellow employees.
• Identifies, documents and reports, all defects and non-conformance to Production Supervisor
• Discusses productivity and quality issues with Production Supervisor

• Typical fabrication environment; foot, eye and ear protection required on the shop floor, ‘business casual’ in the offices

• High School Diploma, GED equivalent
• Post secondary diplomas or certification in a related field
• 4 years of work experience in quality
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (GDT)
• Ability to read blueprints
• Knowledge of precision measuring equipment, such as calipers,  OD micrometers, depth gauges.
• 3D Sanning equipment
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
• Communicate in English both written and verbally
• Be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands, and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
• Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication
• Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment
• Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications
• Accurate and highly analytical
• Experience in supervising and mentoring new recruits
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude with the ability to work independently with little supervision
