QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Business Operations

FUNCTION: The Quality Manager ensures continuous production of quality products meeting customer and military standards, develops, implements and maintains ISO 9001 and TRC Quality System requirements, coordinates and directs the Quality Management System at all production facilities, ensures facilities and subcontractors maintain an adequate Quality Management System compliant with TRC procedures, supervises quality personnel, organizes quality planning and inspections to meet shipment schedules, and maintains Environmental, Health and Safety programs.

REQUIRED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Excellent supervisory, customer service and communication skills; ability to supervise a diverse quality staff; strong knowledge of state‑of‑the‑art quality systems, including ISO 9001, Six Sigma, and TQM; proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office; understanding of lean manufacturing; strong problem‑solving skills; ability to communicate with customers and stakeholders at all levels; ability to manage multiple priorities; self‑initiating and able to work independently;

flexibility for non‑traditional hours; willingness and ability to travel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree plus four (4) years of quality systems management experience (with at least two (2) years managing a high‑level quality assurance system) OR Associate’s degree plus six (6) years of quality management systems experience (with at least two (2) years managing a high‑level quality assurance system). Experience in an industrial sewing environment and managing government contract specifications strongly preferred.

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and ability to travel essential.

• Maintain proper budget performance for the quality assurance program.
• Develop, implement, and maintain TRC’s Quality System Requirements, including ISO 9001 conformance and certification; ensure department managers engage with ISO 9001 QMS.
• Perform internal audits and maintain QMS to ensure continued ISO certification.
• Assign inspectors to specific areas within the production floor, shipping and receiving based on ship schedule requirements.
• Serve as liaison with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders for quality assurance and product conformance.
• Control costs and use manpower, supplies, and machines efficiently.
• Collaborate with product development manager, production superintendent, customers, engineers, and project managers on new product and process design; assign QA in‑process inspection points per customer requirements and quality control plan.
• Investigate systemic quality issues and recommend corrective actions; issue stop work directives as needed.
• Manage and monitor environmental, health, and safety levels at production facilities; participate on the facility safety team.
• Maintain quality tools, fixtures, gauges, calibration, and documentation.
• Maintain required Digital Certificates, Central Contractor Registry, and representations and certifications for government contracting.

• Hire, discipline, and evaluate quality personnel; ensure adequate staffing.
• Ensure staff are trained and compliant with departmental and agency policies.
• Coordinate staff orientation and ongoing training with Staff Training Department.
• Oversee all aspects of quality workforce administration, including paperwork and disciplinary actions.

• Administer all Quality Assurance Management System policies and procedures.
• Update staff job descriptions and provide training on changes.
• Ensure quality and regulatory documentation and standards are maintained per system requirements.
• Work with agency Risk Manager on health and safety issues.
• Promote TRC’s vision, mission, and values in all customer and stakeholder interactions.
• Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.

Work within ISO Express, EPICOR, and Ulti Pro.
