Work in research project Glass Bees: knowing, valuing and engaging with soil in the age of digital agriculture , led by dr Celina Strzelecka, funded by the National Science Center, Poland (DEC-2025/59/D/HS6/00364).
The tasks of the person employed in the post-doctoral position will include:
- Conduct qualitative and computer-assisted analyses of media, policy documents and Agriculture 4.0 technologies, including computational text analysis, mapping of agroalgorithmic assemblages and data visualisation;
- Support the Principal Investigator in developing the project's theoretical framework, including literature reviews, desk research and the analysis of secondary sources;
- Conduct one of the project's three ethnographic case studies in rural Poland, including approximately 30 in-depth interviews and around 90 days of participant observation;
- Co-design and facilitate participatory Future Workshops with farmers, technology developers, researchers and institutional stakeholders;
- Manage research data, including organising, anonymising and maintaining qualitative research materials and project datasets;
- Collaborate with and provide methodological support to the PhD researcher employed in the project;
- Co-author academic publications, research reports and conference presentations together with the project team;
- Present research findings at national and international conferences;
- Contribute to research dissemination through the project website, public engagement activities and reports for broader audiences;
Participate in organisational and administrative tasks related to the implementation of the project, including regular project team meetings.
RequirementsResearch Field Sociology Education Level PhD or equivalent
Skills/Qualifications
High level of autonomy and excellent work organization;
Ability to conduct interdisciplinary research;
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Specific Requirements
- Interest in digital agriculture, environmental anthropology, Science and Technology Studies (STS), environmental sociology, agroecology or related fields;
- Have a strong publication record demonstrating the ability to conduct independent research, including publications in recognised international journals;
- Meeting requirements set forth by the funding agency: (a) PhD received no earlier than January 1, 2014 (exceptions apply in case of longer sick leaves and parental leaves); (b) PhD received from an academic institution other than the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (OR at least a 9-months long research stay at an academic institution abroad during or after PhD studies);
